Upward Bound Outreach shares a message of hope and love in Juvenile Justice Facilities to create a stronger bridge for the community, community organizations and churches to reach out, mentor, and encourage at-risk youth. We have seen what love can do.
What started out in 1983 as a music ministry has been completely transformed into an outreach ministry. After years of leading worship and sharing concerts with tens of thousands across the country, Jeff Moody answered the call to be an advocate for those with no voice in society. Kids in Juvenile Justice Centers around the U.S. have been written off by society, but God has not written them off.
“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’ —Matthew 25:37-40
Upward Bound Outreach is not only going into Juvenile Justice Centers to speak to at-risk youth, but mobilizing the Church to start mentoring programs. These kids are counting on God’s people to join Upward Bound Outreach in this effort to help them see a different future for themselves. —To give them mentoring and life skills that will guide them through difficult choices and harsh environments.
While offering tools to strengthen one’s foundation, no matter the topic, our challenge is:
1) Let go of the past… it does not define you.
2) Embrace this moment… there is a reward or consequence for every choice we make.
3) No matter the situation, keep moving forward one step at a time and never give up! The ordinary becomes extraordinary when there is hope to dream, strength to pursue and confidence to be empowered.
Traveling with Jeff are ordinary individuals who have been refined by extraordinary circumstances beyond human understanding. Together they share a passionate message as a reminder to dream, to reach, to run, and to never give up.
It’s a message of hope to inspire change. We know the very things that hurts us the most are the things we use to help others. We can’t change the past — so let’s focus on building an incredible future… one step at a time! We have seen what love can do.
